How to patch repair cement sheet?

Had a accident happen in laundry room which lead to a hole being made in the wall that I think is cement sheeting, considering it's a decent size what would be the best way going forward with repairing it and is there any way to save the wallpaper as it's a old house and the wallpaper has definitely aged and I can't seem to be able to find the same pattern/color.

Any insight, tips or anything would be most appreciated and grateful for being able to help, thanks.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about patching cement sheeting.

In order to repair the damage, the broken section must be cut out and a square cut put into place. You'll then need to cut a square patch from a cement sheet panel the same size as the one you've cut into the wall. I then suggest putting in some timber pieces in the corner as back blocking, you can screw them into place using Macsim 8G x 30mm Fibre Cement Screws Galvanised. Once the corner supports are in place you can now put the repair piece in position. Use the fibre cement screws to hold it in place. Please note that the repair piece must fit firmly into place.

The gap around the repair piece can be covered with Nordsjo Professional 1L Exterior Super Filler. Once the filler cures you can then sand it down. In regards to the wallpaper, I can only suggest painting the patch in same background colour as the wallpaper.

Whoops 🙂 Fixable for sure but the wallpaper maybe not so 😕

How big is the hole? And is there any timber studs showing through the hole? And nope not asking for a pic 🙂 Wallpaper is a teller for sure 🙂

I had to replace a segmant of my laundry wall Laundry retrofit as it was plasterboard that had been water damaged. I used cement sheeting to repair the area. I have shown the link (check step 2) so you can see the studs and nogins that you will need to find to make it easy to repair (unless the hole is small?)

First up, probarly be wise to find out if the material is asbestos. How to test asbestos in my house? and Getting an asbestos sample tested with the NSW Gov. You will find links to other states if you search for your particular state. The main reason Im suggestion to check the material is the type and also the age of the wallpaper. It puts it into a range of could be. So better to be safe then sorry.

If its not asbestos then onwards we go. Id check the dimensions of the material that is used on the wall (will help determine what it is) Id follow @EricL's instructions at this point as they are the same as I would be typing 🙂

Villaboard is what I used to repair my wall and was very easy to use. Scour and snap pretty much. Let us know the dimensions of the hole/crack and we may be able to suggests some ways of repairing instead of a large patch.

a few photos would be helpful to understand the size and position to best guide you in the repair.

Regarding the wallpaper, unfortunately I’m confident you won’t find an exact replacement. Even if you did the aged original would be still considerable different in finish. Your best solution with the landlords permission is to redo the entire wall. They maybe up for it to be painted in lieu of wallpaper. But removing all the old would be mammoth task.
