Our laundry is a full step down from our main house level (approximately 1 foot) and we are wanting to level it out. Are we able to just build on top of the existing tiles and is this an expensive exercise? Or, do we have to rip up all the tiles before building up the floor?
I am trying to weigh up choosing a Reno design where we can have flush flooring and a better floor plan vs having to keep the rooms separate and redo the laundry but keep it a step down.. we will have to rip up and retile this way anyway so not sure what way is more cost effective?
Hello @Reno123,
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your laundry renovation.
I have a general idea of what you are trying to describe, but would it be possible for you to post few pictures of the sunken area? This will give our members a better idea of the floor's construction. We can then make recommendations on what you can do.
Generally speaking, it's possible to put in a timber frame in the sunken portion to level your flooring area. It makes laying down new flooring that much easier and provides better overall flow for the area.
If you have any other question we can help with, please let us know.
