First timer looking to regrout the floor of this shower. Just looking for advice on what products I should require to get this done prior to turning up to Bunnings. Any of general advice is welcomed.

Re: Grouting shower floor

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, @nelshunter. It’s great to have you join us and many thanks for your questions about regrouting your shower floor.

It looks like in some areas of the floor the grout has completely come away, while in others it’s still hanging on. If you’re looking to do a proper job, I’d recommend cutting out any of the remaining grout using either a grout saw or a multi-tool with a diamond blade, as it’s likely already compromised and could fall out over time. Around the perimeter, particularly on the left-hand side, there are some fairly wide gaps you’ll need to make sure are well filled.

I also noticed that some of the wall grout is cracked, which suggests it’s been affected by movement or moisture, so I’d consider addressing that at the same time to ensure a consistent and long-lasting result. Once you’ve cleaned out all the loose or damaged grout from both the floor and the wall, you can use a standard cement-based grout to refill the joints. However, in the corners and any areas with wider gaps—especially where the floor meets the wall—I’d suggest using a wet area silicone instead of grout. Silicone is far more flexible and won’t crack if there’s movement in the joint.

Here are some helpful step-by-step guides: How to grout tiles and How to apply silicone sealant.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you, Mitchell. I went ahead and did what you mentioned and it looks much better!
