Re: shower repair

Hello @mills28

Thank you for sharing your question about re-grouting your tiled shower area. If large sections of your grout are starting to deteriorate, odds are that the other sections will also be deteriorating as well and a partial repair might not be enough to ensure a long-term fix. I recommend taking that extra step and re-grouting the entire shower area so that you have freshly laid grout with no older sections to worry about.

For ease of removal, I suggest investing in a multi tool with a grout removal blade. Please remember to wear personal protection such as appropriate clothing, gloves, goggles and a mask when working on your grout. The next step will be clean all the dust and debris using a shop vac such as an Ozito 1250W 12L Stainless Wet And Dry Vacuum or similar. Wipe the surface down with a clean damp rag and allow the tile surface to dry off before you begin re-grouting.

However, in regards to the grout outside your main shower area, if you are not yet ready to do a full large-scale re-grout of the outside area a patch repair would be possible with the tools I've mentioned. Just keep in mind that the older sections will not be the same colour or tone as the freshly laid grout will appear brighter.

My best advice is to seal the surface of the tile and grout to extend their service life.
