Can I use a heat gun to loosen up PVC piping joined together by blue PVC cement/glue over 20 years ago?
I would like to remove the external piping (including the ), cap internal piping and retile over the top as it’s no longer in use.
Otherwise, any suggestions on how I can remove it as every attempt by normal
force has failed.
Hello @MB83
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your plumbing.
Just a friendly reminder that any plumbing work needs to be carried out by a licensed plumber for safety and compliance.
In regards to your question, yes, you can use a heat gun to soften up the pipe work and allow you to disassemble it. If the pipe work can be accessed from the other side of the wall, then that is where the plumber will probably seal it from. But if it is inside the wall, they will probably make a larger access hole so that they can cap off the pipework. It all depends on the access to the pipe, once that is determined the plumber will take appropriate action.
