How to remove bath mixer tap nut?

Hi team, I'm having trouble moving the gold nut to remove and change the tap cartridge, any recommendation of tool to remove it?

tried skinny pliers don't work.

or can I assume the silver cylinder casing around it can be removed by twisting/pulling it, even though it's tightly held? remove via rubber strap wrench?

- there is no allen key screw, around silver casing.

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

I suspect there will be a grub screw somewhere that needs to be removed to remove the chrome housing. Have a look underneath it. Is there anything there?

If not, can you identify the brand of the tap so I can try to find some technical drawings that would help us?

Hi Jacob, unfortunately No grub screw around the cylinder casing, it's all smooth.

Unable to locate any product name.

Any other suggestion or call plumber, with any tools they may have?

I have found the brand of the tap, it was coincidentally located in your red arrow.

Unfortunately, Watermark is not a brand; it is a certification scheme used for plumbing and drainage products, so this doesn't really help us.

If the chrome cover is a screw fit piece, a strap wrench could help remove it.

The tool that you would usually use to remove the cartridge is a Tap Spanner, but I don't think you would be able to get any purchase on the brass nut that holds it in place with the chrome cover there. You could give this a try, but I'm not sure how well it would go because I can't see how much of the brass nut is exposed.

If the tap spanner does not work, I would turn off the water at the mains and systematically remove parts to see if that allows for movement of other pieces.

If I got stuck after this point, I'd consider calling a plumber.

it most likely unscrews anti-clockwise. That strap wrench @JacobZ mentioned is ideal for this.

I have found the strap wrench works well, sometimes it slips and its hard to get tension but really it is surprising how well it works. I would go with the anti-clockwise as @Nailbag suggests 🙂 I always mess up on which way.
