Hi everyone,
I am trying to find a way to clean the black mould from our shower screen. It is in the seal between the glass and the frame
It looks like the seal is one piece that's been wedged in rather than some sort of silicone caulking etc. Here is what it looks like at the top clean
Is there a product that cleans this, or if I have to remove it can I just cut out the bottom and what do I replace it with?
Thanks
Hello @Mooch88
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your shower screen.
The seals you are currently looking at are the custom fitted silicone wedges which are installed using a special tool. It's not something that you can simply remove and push back in place. Once removed it can only be put back in using the glazier's tool. This complicates matters as that also means that you can't reach the area where the mould has started to spread. This generally happens with aluminium shower doors and panels.
To prevent it from spreading out, I suggest spraying the corner and all the areas affected with Selleys 750ml Rapid Mould Killer Remover. You'll need to be vigilant so that it will not be able to grow further. Try using a used toothbrush to clean the edges of the seal and make sure to rinse the area with water once you are done.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
