How to remove toilet cistern cover

How to remove toilet cistern cover

We have a Caroma plastic cistern for our toilet. We can hear water drip inside the cistern. We hope some can help to give advise

1. How do we open the cistern cover ? It seems hard to lift the cover and we are worried we will damage it.

2. What could possibly be causing the leak and whether we can DIY the repair.

Appreciate an advise on how to lift the cover. Thank you.

Re: How to remove toilet cistern cover

Hi all,

A friend managed to remove the cistern cover and we can see where the leak is.

Any suggestions whether it can be a DIY ?

Thanks.

Re: How to remove toilet cistern cover

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @lhk. It's fabulous to have you join us and many thanks for your question.

You beat me to it, I was just busy putting together a description on how to remove the lid for you.

The easiest option to fix this issue is to replace that inlet valve with a universal Fluidmaster Bottom Entry Toilet Inlet Valve. Where that valve is spraying from it appears there might be a hole or crack in it. It doesn't look like it is leaking from a washer that you can replace.

Here are the instructions on how to install the new valve.

Please let me know if you need further assistance or had any questions.
