How to remove white acrylic shower handles?

Hello workshop! Just wondering if anybody had any tips on removing this type of shower handle? Handle seems threaded and won't hold itself off, when tightening, the handle pops and resets like it's all the way on again. Any help would be appreciated as it seems there's a trick to getting this off and I can't figure it out. Thanks

It seems similar to the skirted handle assembly in this discussion - How to remove acrylic tap handles? by @hassall147. Would it be possible for you to post a photo of the handle assembly from the side? This will give our members a chance to assess the configuration of the handle. We can then make recommendations on how to proceed.
