I've just purchased a place built in the 70s that has had one of the bedrooms opened up to the adjoining bedroom and made into a non-enclosed ensuite. Before settlement I'm obsessing over what I can DIY to improve the place and feel like the ensuite is a necessity.
The problem I can see is that the walls are timber paneling that have just been painted with a bathroom paint. I doubt there's any waterproofing given there's none behind the splashback (which has evidently detached as the adhesive was applied directly to the timber).
What's the best play here? I'd love to re-tile the floor up to the ceiling after enclosing the room but how can I do that with this current cladding?
