How to replace a shower door?

Hi all,

Unfortunately our very old shower sliding door broke and couldn't be out back together. Any suggestions on what we could do to replace the door?

Re: Replacing a shower door

Hi @nt14,

A warm welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Can you advise what the height and width of the opening is?

You're going to have to purchase and install a new shower screen front, such as this Estilo 900 x 1830mm Chrome Adjustable Framed Shower Screen - Front Only to suit the opening.

The installation will involve removing the old frame, installing the new frame, adjusting the door to fit the gap, screwing it into place then sealing around the frame with silicone.

This is certainly achievable D.I.Y., but to those who are not particularly experienced, I'd generally recommend contacting a glazier for their assistance with this kind of work, as with glass, there is always a risk of shattering the glass and causing unnecessary injury or financial loss.

Let me know if you have any further questions.

Hi! Measurements are: 106cm x 167cm. It's a bit of an odd size, but good to know a new door can be put on

Re: Replacing a shower door

Hi @nt14,

Due to the irregular sizing, your glass will have to be custom, which will require the assistance of a glazier.

I'd suggest using a service such as HiPages or True Local to find glaziers operating in your area. They will be able to measure up the space and offer a solution that will work for you.

Let me know if there is anything else I can assist with.
