I plan to get a plumber to install but would like to choose the replacement toilet bowl (with seat) and cistern. Ideally don't want any exposure of the currently covered parts. Which dimensions would be critical and how do I determine whether the current one is S or P trap. Anything else I need to ensure prior to purchasing a replacement. Note the reason II'm changing this is because there appear s to be a small leak at the base of the current bowl which is causing a constant odour.
Hello @dilipsea
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your toilet suite.
In order to get the exact measurements of your set out the toilet must be disassembled. However, the good news is that the majority of back to wall toilets fall within a certain range of measurements. For example, the Mondella WELS 4 Star 4.6L/Full Concerto Back To Wall Rimless Toilet Suite has a set out adjustment of 90 to 180mm. The Caroma Luna Back To Wall Toilet Suite WELS 4 Star 4.5L/Full has a set out adjustment of 60 to 185mm.
The only piece that can't be accounted for is the position of your cistern tap. Each toilet has a unique height and position so it's important that you have the budget to have that tap repositioned. But other than that, everything else should be standard.
If you're after a professional installation, I suggest having a look at our Toilet Installation Service as well.
