Trying to get this bath tap off to replace it. I've removed the screw with an Allen key but the tap just spins around and around and doesn't come off. Should it just pull off or is there an easy step I'm missing completely?
Hello @attempting
Quite often when the handle for the shower mixer has been attached to the ceramic cartridge for a while calcium deposits form. This deposit acts like glue and makes the removal of the handle very difficult. Since you have removed the grub screw the handle in theory should pull off. If it is stuck, I suggest pushing and pulling the handle in all directions to loosen it up. Once it starts to loosen up, you should be able to pull it out. I also suggest spraying inside the grub screw hole some WD40 to loosen it up.
Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1 and @AlanM52 for their recommendations.

Hi @attempting,
Hold a block of wood on the handle and sharply tap with a small hammer to hopefully break the bond.
You can also tap from the back with just the hammer.
Cheers
Good morrning @attempting
Grub screw is gone
I am also expecting it to be able to be pulled towards you. I would provide some more gentle force while pulling on it.
Maybe place a piece of flat timber between the head of the tap and the wall to distribute the weight and then lever with a large screwdriver? I would be cautious as you dont want to crack any tiles. So with the screwdriver I am imagining that the blade tip resting on the timber past the left hand side of the tap handle, The handle end of the screwdriver is what I then would pull towards you, I would go from side to side and try to edge the tap handle out. I would expect it only to move a tiny bit with each leavering.
