Hi. I'm trying to replace a worn outlet seal in and old toilet. I've removed some of the assembly so far but there's a copper pipe which looks like it needs to be removed in order to free up the rest of the assembly. I think I need to use two wrenches to remove it - one for the metal bolt and the other to hold the plastic one in place - but wanted to check this is correct? I'm a bit concerned about the plastic breaking if using a wrench on it.
After removing this, I'm hoping I just need to release the 4 locking pins (2 at the front, 2 at the back) and I'll be able to lift off the flushing mechanism and access the seal/washer to see what size I need for replacement.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!
I was able to released the plastic nut by turning with my hands but I can't remove it from it's mount as the copper pipe is too rigid. Please could you suggest how I can continue the disassembly?
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @SmellyJim. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about replacing a seal.
I can't see any need to remove the plastic portion from the rigid copper pipe. I'd be undoing the nut that attaches the copper pipe to the mini cistern tap. Once undone, you should be able to lift out the copper pipe with the plastic portion still attached. You'll then have access to the outlet valve.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Mitchell
