How to replace privacy lock doorknob in bathroom?

Can't figure out how to remove this square-looking pin. Our bathroom door isn't opening properly so need to replace it. Thanks for any help!

Update - managed to get the handle off by unscrewing the pin, but haven't the foggiest how to get rid of the this bit!

Apologies for the delay in response.

I'm glad to see you've made some progress, but it seems like you are still struggling with removing the spindle.

If you inspect the spindle on both sides of the door, it's likely there will be a small rubber O-ring on one side of the spindle. I can't see it in your most recent photos, so there's a good chance it is on the other side of the door.

Once you've located the o-ring, you will have to slip it off the spindle and then pull the spindle through the latch from the opposite side of the door.
