How to replace shower screens?

G'day Bunnings legends.

We’re looking to upgrade our current sliding-door showers to something more modern and easier to clean.

We’ll be painting our existing tiles before installation, with no structural changes or retiling to the shower spaces.

Has anyone DIY'd a shower like this? 2 x shower approx dimensions are:

* Right-angle shower: approx. 83 × 101 × 180 cm (H)
* Single-sided shower screen: 106 × 182 cm (H)

Interested in frameless/ semi frameless options.

Currently have been getting quotes between $1500-$2500+ per shower.

Cheers in advance,

Joel

Re: How to replace shower screens

Hello @joelharrisonau

Thank you for sharing your question about replacing your shower doors. For the right angle shower the closest I could find is the Estilo 900 x 1830mm Chrome Semi Frameless Shower Screen. It might be necessary to shrink the shower ever so slightly or add a vertical plinth to take up the extra space.

As for the single door panel, there is the Mondella 865mm Frameless Shower Panel Door Kit and the Estilo 900 x 1830mm Chrome Adjustable Framed Shower Screen - Front Only. As I mentioned earlier a vertical plinth will have to be built to take up the space that the doors can't cover.

Let me call on our experienced members @Nailbag and @AlanM52 for their recommendations.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Re: How to replace shower screens

Hi @joelharrisonau,

Sorry... I can't offer any suggestions other that what @EricL has provided because off-the-shelf would have to be adapted for those spaces whereas your quotes would be for custom made-to-size shower screens.

Re: How to replace shower screens

Hi @joelharrisonau

Using off the shelf shower screen tend to only work well when your building a shower recess to their sizes. When adopting them to fit existing showers its going to be problematic without the complication of modifying the walls.

My advice would be to stick with a custom build and keep getting a few quotes. From the dimensions your quoting much above the $1500 mark appears to be very excessive.
