How to replace the basin drain catcher?

Is there a way to replace this plastic drain catcher? In our other bathroom it is covered in black mould. We’ve tried bleach, exit mould, magic cleaning sponges etc nothing works.

Re: How to replace the basin drain catcher

Hi @me25,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

Yes, you can replace it, but you would have to replace the whole waste with something like this Caroma 40mm White Plug and Waste with Spacer.

To do this, you would have to disconnect the waste from underneath the basin. There will be a lock nut like this one that you need to disconnect to remove it.

Once disconnected, you can slip the waste up through the basin, then drop the new one through the hole and tighten up the locking nut.

You'd just have to confirm that the diameter of your pipe matches the new waste. If you could advise what the diameter is, I would be happy to confirm a suitable product for you.

Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Jacob
