How to replace toilet pan seal?

Hi I have a dilemma regarding replacing my leaking pan seal with a wax seal. The problem is I can’t get the seal collar to move so that I can fit the wax seal in. I’m not sure if it’s glued in place or something else but it won’t budge. I think my only solution is to have a plumber remove the toilet and replace with a more permanent rubber seal. If there anyone that has faced such an issue & found a diy solution I’d be grateful for their advice, because a plumber is last resort, thanyou

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Dave0240. It's great to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing a leaking toilet.

The collar cap on the left-hand side is clipped on and might require some force and a light tap with a hammer to remove it. It’s worth noting that this work is typically considered plumbing and may require enlisting a professional.

That said, if the cap can’t be removed, a plumber should be able to cut the pipe and install a new collar without needing to remove the toilet entirely.

Thanks Mitchell, I think your advice about using a plumber who can cut & replace a new collar is what I’ll do, I don’t want to keep trying to pry it & end up cracking it so more water leaks out, cheers .. Dave
