How to replace water tap cartridge?

Can I replace the water tap cartridge myself? I have been watching a video about this, and thought I could replace it myself. I need to open the tap and bring the cartridge to Bunnings and purchase a same size and shape one. Is this procedure correct?

The steps you've mentioned are correct. Please keep in mind that before you begin make sure to turn off your mains water supply at the front of the house to avoid any accidental flooding.
