How to restring a clothesline?

As a very inexperienced DIYer is it hard to restring a clothesline?  TIA

Re: Restringing A Clothesline

I have a Austral Rotary Foldaway. Please give me instructions on how to restring. I already purchased the strings from Bunnings. Do I start from inside most line it outermost line. How do I use the tensioner as shown in photo. I was told to do the outermost line first. Make a knot and then do the innermost and use clip to go to next line and at the 6th line use the tensioner. The last line 7th line was already done. Please give me video link or could you explain step by step. Thanks

Re: Restringing A Clothesline

Hello @etet

I've contacted our supplier Austral in regards to your query about re-stringing your clothesline. You'll notice that it is not your ordinary layout and the string goes in certain directions. This is done because of its folding feature. The string must not move when the clothesline folds in, it must retain its length even in its folded position. As soon as we get more information, we'll get back to you.

Thank you for your patience.

Re: Restringing A Clothesline

Thanks Eric. There are different versions. Some say start from outer and others say start from inner. Can you explain to me what the tensioner does and when I should use it,?

Re: Restringing A Clothesline

Hello @etet

It's possible that the string starts from the outside, I suggest looking at your current string layout and observe how it is run or connected together. This will give you an idea of how the string is organized as it passes through the clips. The tensioner works by pulling the string down and locking the arm clip closed. This keeps the string tight and prevents it from moving. If you unlock the tensioner the string will loosen up. It is best to keep it closed if you are not yet changing the string. When we get the instructions from Austral, we will post it here as soon as possible.
