How to stop VJ panels lifting?

Hi,

Ive started using the VJ panels for my laundry room. This is my first time doing the a DIY.
Everything seems to be ok, but I saw that the side started lifting.
I used Selleys liquid nail- fast grab. It’s been 4 hours now. What should I do? How can I save it?
please advise .

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your EasyVJ panel installation.

If the corner can still be lifted up, I suggest applying more liquid nails and pushing that corner back in and securing it with a Zenith 8G x 40mm Countersunk Rib Head Chipboard Screws - 28 Pack. Make sure to position the screw at least 25mm away from either edge of the corner panel. I suggest slightly overdriving the screw into the panel so that its head is lower than the surface of the panel. This indentation must be filled with a filler and sanded down so that it will not be seen when the surface is painted over.

For added security, I suggest wedging a piece of off cut timber into the corner while wedging it to the floor. This is about as secure as you can make it while waiting for the adhesive to dry off. Once the adhesive cures you can then remove the timber wedge.

This can easily be saved. And by coincidence I just had to save a few for a client just last Friday with a similar issue. The issue is often caused by relying just oil liquid nails and no brads or screws to hold the board firm to the wall which may not be dead flat. Or the board itself may have a slight bow.

Drill a 4mm pilot hole (only through the sheet) 15mm in on the bottom left had corner on a 45deg angle towards the back of the door architrave. Then use a countersink bit to make a shallow groove the for the screwed to sit flush into. Use these screws as they have a narrow head and a more secure square drive (you might need to grab a drive bit too). If using a drill, then put it in low gear and apply reasonable pressure as you drive the screw in. It will find its way to the stud thats behind the door arch and secure the panel.

The top right panel corner thats lifted will sort itself out with the next panel. When it's position up against the lifted corner, it will press and hold it in place. But if you want, you could drive another screw into the corner/s using the same method described above. There will not be any cables or piping in these locations to worry about.

When fixing the remaining panels, first locate and mark the studs. Then use brad nails to secure the panels while your liquid nails cures. Then fill the brad and screw heads.

I like the suggestions that @EricL and @Nailbag have both outlined, one more idea tho I think I like the others more so but as an option.

Get yourself a long piece of timber, lean it diagonally against the "popped" out section after you have put more liquid nails underneath it. Then weight the diagonal brace with something heavy, either the sand doorstops, A screw in the timber then a recyled bag full of water bottles will also work to give pressure to hold the panel in place.
