Re: bathroom slope issue waterpool alwats

Hi @shankor,

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

It looks like you are having an issue with the water draining to your floor drain outside of the shower area in your bathroom. Is that correct? If so, does the water come from inside the shower area?

Unfortunately, there is no method that I am aware of that would fix the pooling issue that doesn't involve removing the tiles. The way that tilers create a slope towards drains is by building up a screed bed beneath the tiles, similar to what you see in How To Screed a Shower Tray.

Ideally, the floor would slope towards the drain better, but considering this pooling issue is outside of your shower area, you are likely better off looking at methods of keeping the water inside the shower than lifting the tiles to rectify the slope outside of your shower.

If you were to lift and remove the tiles, this would likely damage the waterproofing that lies beneath, so you would need to rectify this damage to the waterproofing, create the slope towards the drain using a screed bed, then reinstall the tiles.

This is quite an involved process that would come at a relatively high cost, so dealing with the water issue at its source is likely a better option.

Allow me to tag @Nailbag and @Noyade to see if they have any thoughts.

Re: bathroom slope issue waterpool always

Hi @shankor

I completely agree with @JacobZ in that I would be more concerned and wanting to resolve the issue thats allowing water to escape the shower in the first place. Fix this and then you wont need to worry about water pooling.
