Shower head cap falling off

Hi,

My shower head cap has fallen off today.

Despite best efforts, it’s not attaching.

I am attaching photos that can give some idea about the issue.

Any pointers will be appreciated. Thanks for your help.

Thanks

Re: Shower head cap falling off

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @prashantlangade. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about repairing a shower head.

From your images, I can see what appears to be a broken plastic connecting shaft in the middle, and I would presume that is how the front cover is held in position. There also appear to be a couple of clips that have also broken. Due to this, repairing the shower head would not be feasible, and even the strongest of glues would likely fail very quickly give the moist and hot environment.

I suggest replacing the showerhead as the best course of action. Hopefully, something like the Estilo Chrome ABS 10 Function Hand Shower would be a straight swap. The only thing you need to consider is whether the new head fits in your existing wall holder. It's best to test before installing it.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Shower head cap falling off

Thank you so much Mitchell for your quick expert advice.

Just so that I understand it correctly, when you say ‘existing wall holder’ , I believe it’s the place where the shower head is fitted to the pipe as per the attached? Is that correct?

Also, i am not sure how can i test it before buying. I can take the existing shower head to the Bunnings to check with the staff if the one you suggested (or if there are any other options) can be fitted.

Also is there any other information that they may need to help confirm the fitting?

Re: Shower head cap falling off

Yes, the holder is mounted on the pipe and grips the showerhead @prashantlangade. It just depends on where your holder grips the showerhead. You can purchase a shower head, take it home and open the package to test it. It's best to open the package neatly so you can reseal it if you need to return it.

There's no reliable way to confirm whether the new head will fit unless you try it. That's still better than having to replace everything, including the wall-mounted section.
