What is the most robust type of bench tops for a laundry in the kaboodle range?
Hello @katewilliams
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about benchtops.
We recently had a previous discussion in regards to benchtops - How to choose a kitchen benchtop? by @NB. Both timber and laminated tops have their advantages and disadvantages. To summarize: treated timber benchtops offer a warm, natural look and can be sanded and re-oiled if damaged, but they require regular maintenance and are sensitive to moisture. Laminate benchtops are low-maintenance, affordable, and available in a wide range of styles, though they can’t be easily repaired once chipped.
The last option of course is to use resin or natural stone tops which are the most expensive and when damaged will cost the most to repair. In the original discussion, I suggested using timber as it is the easiest to repair should any damage occur to it. My best advice is to seal the benchtop thoroughly so that it will be protected from any moisture contamination.
