I have done the shower screen and shower wall tiles with a enduro shield treatment. Wondering if anyone knows if there is a protective treatment/hydrophobic treatment that is safe to use on the acrylic trays/bases ? Thankfully I realised I couldn't use the enduro shield on it before I got that far.
Hi @sharnee89,
Not as far as I’m aware — most hydrophobic treatments like EnduroShield are designed specifically for vertical glass, ceramic tiles, and stainless steel, but not for acrylic surfaces. Acrylic is a bit more sensitive to chemicals, so there are limited options with coatings. Hydrophobic treatments are typically used on vertical surfaces as the water can run off them. Depending on the fall of your base, a treatment may just cause water to bead and sit there.
Keeping it clean and regularly wiping it down is usually the best way to maintain it without risking any damage.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Ah ok. Anything in particular you would recommend for cleaning it? Nervous about damaging my new shower..
Hi @sharnee89,
Acrylic shower trays are actually quite resilient, so you generally don’t need to do anything too harsh to keep them looking good. I’d recommend steering clear of strong or abrasive cleaners just to avoid any chance of dulling the surface over time.
For regular cleaning, a soft cloth and warm water mixed with a bit of dishwashing detergent is ideal — it’s gentle, cuts through soap scum, and won’t harm the finish. Just give it a quick wipe down every so often to keep things fresh.
The main thing to watch out for is staining, particularly from things like shaving foam in steel canisters. If those are left sitting on the tray, they can rust and leave marks that are difficult to remove. Best to keep anything like that up off the base, just in case.
