What to do about electrical connection box in the wall?

Hi while removing the gyprock off the walls to renovate bathroom, I've discovered an electrical connection in a junction box.

It's not accessible near a power point, it's just inside the wall.

Before re - plastering, should I get this changed so it's a full length cable to the nearest point or is it still code.

You might like to add a photo or two so members can see what you are working with. However, with these kind of questions it is always best to consult with a local electrician who is familiar with the safety requirements in your state.

Without seeing things, I can't comment. I should also add that I am a registered cabler and as such specialize in Voice and Data.You may need the thoughts of a Licensed electrician for this.

Hey mate thanks for the reply, I got onto my sparkie who advised that any junction box within a wall should be accessible, so he's going to replace it and run a cable straight to the next point.

Hey Jason thanks for getting back to me, I ended up thinking it should be replaced and rang my sparkie.

He did advise that any junction box within a wall should have access, he's going to drop in and run a line straight through.
