How do you attach screen panels to a brick wall?

Screening panel.jpg To attach a screening panel like the Tuscan Path 1800 x 900mm Fern Rust Screen Panel to a brick wall, first drill holes in the corners of the panel using a steel drill bit.

Now place the screening panel against the wall at your desired height. Use a spirit level to ensure it is straight, then mark the mounting locations on the brick wall through the panel’s corner holes with a pencil. This ensures that the panel will be securely installed in the correct position.

Thanks for this. I thought you’d need a timber frame given how thin the metal frames are (and non structural). Is this method ok for more cosmetic and sheltered uses?

Hi @EzzaB, great question! Yes, this method is perfectly suitable for fixing screening panels to a solid structure. If the panel is well supported — for example, flat against a brick wall — and you’re anchoring it at all four corners, then you don’t need a timber frame.

However, if any part of the panel is left unsupported — say the bottom is fixed to a brick wall but the top half is above the wall — then you would need to construct a timber frame or some form of bracing. That way, the top section of the screen has something solid to be fixed back to. As you mentioned, the material is fairly thin, so while it doesn’t need to bear heavy loads, it does need to be secured properly to avoid movement or bending over time. A few extra supports will go a long way in keeping it looking neat and safe.
