How do you seal brick pavers?

Red brick pavers.jpegTo seal brick paving, I suggest using Crommelin Natural Finish Penetrating Sealer And Water Repellent.

It is a natural finish penetrating sealer providing long-term water and mould repellence. It also allows natural substrate breathability and will not increase the slipperiness of your brick pavers.

If you also need to rejuvenate between the bricks, what you use depends on the size of the gaps.

Usually I would suggest using Dingo 20kg Powerloc Paving Sand.

But if the gaps between your bricks are big, I recommend using a traditional mix of sand and cement to fill between your bricks. - EricL

Finding My Feet

I wasn’t aware that brick pavers needed to be sealed. Does concrete also need to be sealed? We’ve got an area that frequently gets mouldy and mossy and is hard to clean.

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @angelaucd. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about sealing bricks.

Porous masonry surfaces like brick and concrete are prone to absorbing moisture, grime, and organic matter, which can lead to moss, algae, and mould growth. That's why sealing these surfaces is often recommended.

In the case of concrete, especially in areas that are frequently damp or shaded, it’s a good idea to give it a thorough clean with a pressure washer to remove any existing grime or biological growth. Once the surface is completely dry, you can apply a concrete sealer to help protect it. The sealer acts as a barrier, making the surface more water-resistant and much easier to keep clean in the long run.

Sealing isn’t always essential, but it can certainly reduce maintenance and extend the life and appearance of the surface—especially in spots that tend to stay damp or attract moss.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Mitchell
