Crazy paving, recycled timber screening and polycarbonate roofing sheets helped create an outdoor entertaining area.
We transformed an old, cluttered outdoor area into a stylish, functional patio perfect for entertaining.
This space was so drab when we moved in, we started by removing the lattice work, gas bottles and clutter.
Next we started preparing the base for the crazy pave. Pulling up the old red bricks.
Next was some road base which was compacted.
Next was pouring the concrete and some new panelling on the wall. This was all done with recycled timber. The small-statured site supervisor shouted orders from her thrown.
Next was the crazy pave! The concrete was primed, the tiles smashed using a hammer, with a towel over the top. Tiles were then put out to get a good even mix of colours and sizes. This was pretty time consuming.
It was then time to go and pick up each tile and glue down with tile adhesive. When it came to grouting be sure to use a wide joint grout as there are larger gapes between crazy pave than a standard tile lay and this type of grout prevents cracking.
Seal... and admire !
Lick of paint on the timber wall and *chef's kiss*! We love this space. It has held up so well and made this area something we actually use and enjoy almost every day!
