A custom floating timber shelf perfect for a nursery or bedroom.
The project
With the impending arrival of mini-ProjectPete I've been busy prepping the new nursery in a range of ways and this custom floating shelf is just one of them.
The green dresser has a bit of a story behind it. Firstly, it started off in an antique-coloured brown as it's about 100 years old and was used in our rustic-styled wedding back in 2014 – with brass-looking pull handles. It was then painted a pale pink colour as it was used in our girls' room for their craft supplies and is now a bold, dark green, which is perfectly matched to the wallpaper in the nursery on the opposite wall by using the Taubmans Coloursmith app.
It's all coming together now.

Using leftover fence pickets and the top from her original desk, Tara also built floating shelves and a new desk for her daughter’s room to match her black loft bed.
To add a little something to this corner workstation, Workshop member Hazel built a floating shelf by sliding a custom plywood box over an E bracket to host the family’s collectables.
