This clever hardwood tabletop with built-in plant pot turns a fire pit into an attractive coffee table when not in use.

The project

We made a top for our fire pit out of Merbau offcuts. There is a hole in the top for a plant to poke out of and it means the fire pit can be used as a spot for a coffee break when its not being used for fires.

We put a grate in the bottom of the fire put to improve airflow for fires and the plant pot sits on top of that. It was my idea – my other half did the execution!
