Spice jar drawer organisation

The project

I had some space available in one of my cupboards, so I decided to make this spices drawer. It's a lot better than having spices all over the place.

Materials

Materials used for this project:

• A single 16mm sheet of Melamine panel measuring 1200 mm x 650 mm
  
  
• Melamine edging
  
  
• One inch pocket hole screws
  
  
• Two drawer runners 400mm long
  
  
• Some recycled Tasmanian Oak shelves that were no longer required
  
  
• Methylated spirits, to clean pencil marks.

Steps

First, the panels are cut to size.

A test assembly with the parts identified in pencil.

I then used the pocket hole jig for the pocket hole screws.

It did a great job.

Then I applied the Melamine Edging, using a heat gun and sanding block to fix to the board.

The Melamine Edging is trimmed using an electric plane blade, then file and sand edges.

Clamp and screw the drawer using pocket hole screws.

This is how the drawer looked when it was finished.

Then the drawer runners were fitted. 

The spice jars are elevated using the Tasmanian Oak I had left over. This timber shelving fitted perfectly for this project.

Hi @JoeAzza 

That spice jar drawer is just amazing. Aside from the fact that it holds the spice jars, the drawer itself is hidden inside your cabinet which really keeps it out of sight. I love the use of Kreg jigs as it provides such a secure hold on timber and it's so easy to use. Will you still be painting the racks or leave it as is?
