A good sanding and fresh paint gave this bookcase a modern look and makes the original VJ panelling stand out.

The project

I bought this bookshelf on Facebook Marketplace for $50. I love the VJ paneling so much, it was the whole reason for this upcycling project.

I sanded it down with 120 grit sandpaper, wiped the dust away and then painted two coats of British Paints Prep 4 in 1. Finished it off with three coats of leftover Dulux natural white interior paint.

More upcycling projects

By lightly distressing fresh paint and adding vintage handles, prettyliving completely changed the look of this buffet.

With fresh paint and new handles, craftyhopper was also able to give this buffet a stylish new look.

That has come up so nice, I really look at that pine styled furniture with different eyes these days. It looks fresh and modern!

Nice save and bringing it up to a modern look!
