I recently had a shed built, I built it up put all my tools and garden equipment in one space.it is about 2.8 metres high made of Colorbond. Just wanting a shelf to be put on the walls at about 2.5 metres how do I ensure the shed can take the weight.
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @Jaguar-XF. It's wonderful to have you join us, and many thanks for your question about installing a shelf.
Could you tell us a bit more about the framing inside your shed? If you can post a photo of the wall where you’re planning to install the shelf, that would really help, too. Let me know if you need help uploading an image.
Many smaller garden sheds are made with lightweight framing, and the walls often aren't designed to carry much weight beyond the cladding itself. In those cases, trying to hang a shelf high up can risk damaging the structure or even causing it to warp over time. If you’ve got a larger shed with solid framing—like steel beams—then it might be possible to securely fix a shelf, depending on the weight you plan to store.
Have you considered a free-standing shelving unit instead? It can be a great way to store heavy tools or equipment without putting stress on the shed’s frame.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
