How to fix deteriorating timber on east side of shed?

I have a timber shed. It is set on a concrete base with drains around itDoors of shed.jpg. The East side of the walls and doors are starting to deteriorate due to being constantly damp in the winter. How do I best treat this area.

Hello @J48

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your shed.

I suggest washing the entire affected area with 30 Seconds 5L Outdoor Cleaner Concentrate in combination with an Oates Long Handle Deck Scrub Brush. For a proper deep clean I recommend washing the surface off with a Gerni 3600 1810PSI 1500W High Pressure Washer or similar. For continued maintenance, I suggest spraying the surface with 30 Seconds 5L Spray And Walk Away Concentrate - Bunnings Australia. This will provide a measure of control in regards to mould and mildew growth.

However, if you are looking to re-oil or stain your timber shed, it will be necessary to sand the surface down and re-apply the oil or stain.

If you need further assistance, please let us know.

Eric

Hi @J48

I would follow those excellent instructions by @EricL which is essentially to treat it like restoring a deck. Once it's cleaned, I would use a good decking oil. My personal go to is the Matt finish water based one from Feast Watson as it doesn't leave a tacky residue for days even ones dry. Give it two good coats to start with and a fresh coat at the start of every summer.
