I attempted to open door without using control. Pulled down too hard on the rope and disconnected.

I suspect that you have activated the manual release mechanism of your garage door. I've placed a copy of the instructions on how to re-engage the trolley to the chain shuttle. If it fails to re-engage, I suggest calling the service number printed on the I.D. tag of the garage door opener.
