Just wonder how to repair the broken eave
Hi @helloeatty ,
I downloaded the photos and even full screen on desktop monitor they are quite small.
Can you take the photos again at a higher resolution and also a couple from the front - one standing back.
Cheers
Hi @helloeatty
Has something occurred to have caused the damage or is it a result of house movement overtime?
This just helps to understand what the best cause of action for the repair. but essentially the easiest solution would be to use builders bog to fill the broken infilled section, apply a primer undercoat and paint with ceiling white.
Any gaps can be filled with an exterior gap filler sealant
Nailbag
Hi @helloeatty 👋
I would agree with @Nailbag but would like to add given the season (cold) you will need to mix the builder's bog (alternatively I've used automotive filler) with a high hardener to paste ratio or you'll be fighting a gravity fueled tsunami of filler 😉
Hi @helloeatty,
It's fantastic to see our wonderful community members have already jumped in to support.
My thinking is much the same as @Nailbag's. If the damage is from significant movement or an impact to the pillar, which could affect its structural integrity, then this should be assessed first.
If there is no risk to the structure's integrity, then you can just fill it with some builder's bog, sand it and paint it.
Let me know what you think and if you have further questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks for your reply, can you elaborate how to apply this builder bog ?
Can you elaborate how to apply the builder bog , and what do you mean by seasoning ( cold ). And automative filler is those for the bump ?
apparently, this is only hole I found under this pillar , all other three are fine .
Hi , I just find someone show how to use this product online. So my question is that do I have to chip off some of the crack bits or I just use the bog to glue and reseal the hole?
Hello @helloeatty
If there are loose pieces hanging off the ceiling, then those parts must be removed. But if the other pieces are intact and are in solid contact with the post then there is no need to remove those parts. Builder's bog is like a putty filler. My best advice is not to add too much activator so that you have time to mould the bog. If too much activator is added in the mix, you will have a very short mixing time and the bog will harden quickly.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How To Mix Builder's Bog.
