G’day,
I am trying to install a garage door opener (HomeEntry brand) on my single garage roller door. OK with securing other side of the curtain rod with stop collar, pinning the curtain either end with provided screws.
Having issue with Motor spoke straddling FULLY into drum. Spoke are at the edge of the drum slot and unit is not close to the curtain, please could you see photos and advise how do I fix the issue?
Currently opening and closing the door manually, can see spokes on the unit rotating fine but I am not convinced unit engaged into drum 100%.
Thanks for your help in advance.
Regards,
Lucky
Hello @Newbie450
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your garage door opener.
I suggest unlocking the unit and pulling the manual release rope so that the inner wheel with the spokes are free turning. This will allow you to adjust it so that it slots into the drum spokes. Once it is sitting in snugly you can lock and re-engage the door opener.
However, if it after several attempts it does not wish to engage the drum properly, I suggest checking the stores Garage Door Opener Installation Services if you wish to have a professional install your garage door opener.
Let me call on our experienced members @Dave-1, @Nailbag, @TedBear, @JoeAzza and @AlanM52 for their suggestions.
If you have any other questions we can help with, please let us know.

Hello EricL,
Thank you for getting back on this, much appreciated. I did pull the rope to have the unit in manual operation before I installed. After installation, when I close and open garage door manually I can see that spokes turning along with the curtain in circles.
Spokes are just 5% to 10% into drum. Also unit is not close to drum, as I marked up with white arrows, unit black cylinder should go inside the drum but now there is some gap.
I wait to hear from experienced members that you called upon.
Any ideas will be a great help all! I can tell my mates that I installed it myself proudly!! 😁 😉
Thanks heaps!
Hello @Newbie450
My only other suggestion is to start from the beginning and double checking the fittings. Are the spokes hitting anything inside the drum? Is the actual drum too small? You can also call HomEntry direct on 1800 698 502 if you wish for more technical help.

Hello Eric,
Thanks again. I may try applying some garage door lubricant and sliding fork into another slot in the drum.
Thank you for sharing that number, will ring them if I don’t succeed.
Good Evening @Newbie450
I am not sure what the spokes are? ARe you refering to the ribs of the roller door itself as spokes?
I have not had any experience with this particular model tho when I have an issue with an install I generally solve it by stepping through the whole process again at a later date. (even later that day, just a break between the stress of it not going to plan type deal)
Id go back to the instructions and tick them off as you do them (I would even be tempted to remove the wheel and cog unit to redo as sometimes we step past something we should pay attention to.
Dave
From your last photo @Newbie450 it appears you have not located the motor close enough to the roller drum, roughly 50-70mm. Below are photos I have just taken from my rear garage roller door motor I installed. My motor is on the right side not that that matters. It appears to me that your left wall brackets is too far away from the roller.
But as @EricL mentioned, I would be referring to the installation manual, then if your still struggling contact the motor manufacture directly as a far faster way of getting the correct information.
Nailbag
Good evening to you Dave,
Thank you for sharing that. I will remove the unit and try re-insert. Unit forks are just not sliding into the drum slot fully, only went in about 5%. You are correct on what I meant by spokes!
Drum slot metal measured about 5cms and gap between unit forks is about 5.5cms, should just slide in but not!
Will update how I go.
Regards,
Newbie450!
Thank you for sharing that Nailbag, I will give it another go and let you guys know how I went.
Newbie450!
G’day all,
I had another go at re-inserting HomeEntry unit and succeeded this time. Had a friend to lift the curtain and I pushed it in, it slided in easy.
All set, programmed and tested, working like a charm (photos attached!).
Thank you all for stepping in and advising. Keep up the good work! 🥳
