How to paint masonry walls?

I want to paint the garage block wall with white paint . Do I need to prime the wall or is there a 3 in 1 paint without the use of primer?

The wall is new and the surface is about 22m2. What type of paint would you suggest and how many lit.?GARAGE BLOCK WALL.jpeg

Re: Painting masonry walls

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community @eaubort. It's fantastic to have you join us and many thanks for your question on painting masonry.

For a new masonry block wall, you’ll need to start with a suitable masonry primer, as fresh masonry is very porous and will cause the topcoat to soak in unevenly if not sealed. A good choice is Dulux 1Step Prep Primer, Sealer & Undercoat, which will give the paint a proper surface to bond to and help achieve an even finish. Once primed, you can apply two coats of a quality wall paint such as Dulux Wash & Wear. For a 22m² wall, you’ll need around 4 litres per coat, depending on the porosity, so a 10L tin will be plenty for two coats.

Ensure the surface is clean and allow the primer to dry completely before topcoating for optimal results.

Please let me know if you have any questions.
