Hi Community, hope yr all doing well. I’m hoping someone can help me out with this issue I have. I recently purchased a 2nd hand car - 2009 Mazda 3 MPS 5dr Hatchback. The car came with only 1 ignition/entry key & the key was missing the FOB housing, which means I can’t remotely access the central locking or the hatch. To gain entry & start the car, I have to psychically insert the key into the door lock as well as the ignition. I’ve attached 2 images below to describe the issue. The 1st image is a screenshot of the key that I received & the 2nd is a screenshot of the FOB housing that is missing for that key. To my surprise, Bunnings do sell these FOB housings via ‘special orders’ or ‘online’ but my concern is, am I looking at the correct part that I need & if so, is it as simple as inserting my standalone key into the recommended FOB housing & having a brand new working car/fob ignition key?
Hello @RU329T
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about the FOB key housing.
The TKW to suit Mazda 3, 5, 6, CX7, CX9, M6, RX8, MX5, and more - 3 Button Car Key Shell - MAZ24R Blade is a Marketplace product, and you can contact the seller of a Bunnings Marketplace product via the Contact Seller link in your initial order confirmation email. Alternatively, if you have a Bunnings account, you will be able to contact them via your Order History. You'll then be able to ask them more details about the Mazda FOB housing.
If your key is similar to the one on display it appears that it should fit the FOB housing. But you should get more details from the supplier.
If you need further assistance, please let us know.
Eric
My suggestion would be to contact a Mazda dealer @RU329T.
