Timber mallets and a gavel

Timber mallets and a gavel

I made these timber mallets from scrap wood that I had in the workshop, I also made a gavel and round block made from Tasmanian oak, no reason for it, just wanted to make one, maybe I'll just use it as an ornament.

These were all machined on a metal working lathe.

Re: Timber mallets and a gavel

Those are fantastic, @JoeAzza! I think every good home could use a gavel; you'd certainly draw attention when needed.

I've always wanted to own a lathe. I certainly don't have room for a full-sized one but have considered a smaller hobbyist machine. I have some very fond memories of year seven wood tech and turning a variety of timber bowls. It was just amazing to see what could be created from a block of wood.

Many thanks for sharing your projects.
