Hi there
We moved into our house in Nov last year. The lawn wasn't in a great state when we moved in but it has since taken a beating (culprit in photo). I realise that a perfect lawn is never going to happen since we have a dog but I hope we can do better than this, so I'd welcome some advice!
What's the best way to get a better lawn? Is it best to start over and keep said culprit off it while it establishes itself? Or could I manage it with fertiliser and top dress?
It's about 11 sqm and gets quite a bit of sun expect the area towards the trees in the photo which is more shady. The soil is quite sandy.
Thanks for your help!
Hello @ej1
Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your question about your lawn.
It appears that the soil is compacted and the lawn plus the soil's health has been severely neglected. Although there are remnants of the turf that was once there, it will take some time to revive it and will take even longer to get it nice and uniform. I propose starting from scratch and laying new turf over this area. The general steps will be to aerate the soil and remove as much of the old lawn as possible. Additional soil and fertilizer will then need to be added to the area. The last step will be to lay the turf.
Here is a handy step-by-step guide: How To Lay Turf
