Finding My Feet

Backyard screening by tree planting

After subdividing my block and building a new house I was devastated to realise I only had a five metre deep backyard. I felt I had no privacy and would not want to be out there. After much searching for ideas, Paul Bangay books being my my preferred, my backyard went from this to the previous photo in just two years.

Steps

Step 1

Plan not to see the fence or neighbouring houses with out encroaching over the fence line. Research suitable trees, twenty one trees in all were planted. Create an illusion of depth by layering garden beds.

Re: What neighbours? overlooked to completely private

Hello @jfethers

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community. It's sensational to have you join us, and thanks for sharing your amazing botanical privacy screen!

What an amazing result in just two years! I can't even see the Colorbond fence, it is a fantastic cover up. It gives the impression that there is more to explore behind those trees. I'll definitely have to add Paul Bangay books to my reading list.

Thank you so much for sharing such a wonderful project.

Eric
