Jack decided to use the Possum House instructions he found in a magazine as a template to build a smaller Bird House.
We read through the instructions and worked out what we would need.
We made a cardboard prototype to give us an idea of how we would construct the birdhouse and any changes we might want to make.
We purchased some Marine Ply and after measuring it up, had it cut by our friends at Bunnings.
Jack painted the ply and we put it together with wood glue and nails. He used some screws to add his own personal touches.
Once completed we attached it to the tree and waited for a bird to move in.
But ... it wasn't a bird we found sleeping in the Bird House, it was ... a Baby Possum!!!

Bird House attached to tree
There's something in the Bird House, but it doesn't look like a bird.
It's a Baby Possum who's squished itself into the Bird House and is having a sleep
Oops, we woke it up. We don't think it will stay for long. It will need a bigger house.
Nice work @JacksProjects!
You've done a magnificent job modifying the design of the possum house into one for a bird.
Isn't it a shame that pesky possum didn't get the memo that your lovely blue birdhouse wasn't for them?
Maybe your next project can be the bigger version, so the possum has a home of its own with a bit more room to move.
Thank you for sharing.
