Brick wall or Sleepers? Or water feature?

I'm looking for ideas on how to figure this area out. I want to raise the right side of the garden bed so its level with the concrete slab on the top right corner of the photo. Where I have placed bricks, I want to either have bricks (I don't have many on hand, however & budget conscious), or sleepers to create a wall. The other issue is the sleeper that is at the bottom of the concrete under the fence - I assume it was left there accidentally after the concrete & fence were installed (was like this when we bought the house). Without removing possibly the entire garden soil, what can I use to cut the edge of the sleeper, so it doesn't come out further than the concrete wall? Its about an inch.

If I was using sleepers to replace the bricks in the photo, would I need a post at both ends of the sleepers? As there is a mess of concrete under there, on the fence end. Grass end is fine.

Or something completely different, could I possibly have some sort of waterfall or water feature to hide obvious change in bed height. Solar only!

Hi @rebelliouskiwi,

I’d start by cutting back the existing sleeper so it’s flush with the concrete using a handsaw. Given the concrete under the fence, I’d then attach an H4 post directly above the sleeper and bolt it to the side of the concrete with Ankascrews. This will give you a solid mounting point for your other sleepers without needing to create a concrete footer on that side. On the grass side, you can concrete in another H4 post into the ground to provide your second mounting point. From there, the sleepers can be screwed directly into the posts, creating a stable retaining structure. This approach gives you a neat, secure edge for your raised garden bed.

How about using a couple of these

Jack 650 x 300 x 150mm Black Rectangular Gabion They are only 300mm high and you could place it so the leading corniner lines up with the timber and not have to worry about cutting it?
