We transformed our plain grassy sloped front yard to an inviting garden for the native bees, butterflies and birds.
• garden edging blocks from Nuway in colour Cocoa
• top soil and drainage gravel from Nuway
• sugar cane mulch from Bunnings
• mailbox from Bunnings
• plants mainly sourced from local community and friends and family
First we had to plan the layout and measure out how many garden edging bricks, gravel, soil and mulch we would need.
We then hired an excavator to take up all of the grass. We were able to use the waste as infill for our backyard.
We ordered our products and had the soil and gravel delivered first. The excavator helped fill in the garden bed with the soil, and spread the drainage gravel around.
We then received our order of garden edging blocks and laid them out as per our plans.
Planting time! After collecting my plants over the last 1.5 years it was finally time to get them in the ground. I played around with the layout with them still in pots first, then when I was happy I took them out and planted them. Finally covering in mulch when I was done planting.
Hello @T-Gilbert
Thank you very much for sharing the steps and materials of your front yard makeover. I love the garden edging bricks as it gives it so much definition. Plus, it prevents the mulch from spreading over. The spacing for your plants are ideal. I'm sure it will look even better once the plants grow bigger.
Again, thank you for sharing such a wonderful project.
