Need some help with some kind of scaling issue on our gardenia and turning the plant yellow.
Similar type of scaling seems to have appeared on
other plants as well.
Not sure if this a seasonal issue.
Appreciate any help on the matter.
It does seem like you have a minor issue with scale which can be quite easily dealt with by applying Yates 750ml Ready To Use Scale Gun Insect Pest Killer. Alternatively, you might like to just remove them by hand. Since it appears to be only a small amount of scale, I don't believe they are the cause of the yellowing leaves. When was the last time the plants were fertilised and what type of fertiliser did you use? They are most likely deficient in minerals like magnesium, nitrogen and iron. Too much water can also turn the leaves yellow. Check to see if the soil is constantly damp, and if they are in pots, make sure there is adequate drainage. Once you have established that the cause is not excess water you can apply a complete fertiliser if you haven't fertilised recently. If there is no improvement, you might like to try epsom salts which adds magnesium sulphate to the soil.
Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you very much for your advise.
Sprayed the recommended pest killer on the plants yesterday and will add some fertilizer later in the week.
Will advise on the outcome.
