How to fix rainwater tank pipe joint leakage?

My rain water tank pipe joint is leaking since 2022,it’s a new tank which installed in 2019,how can I fix the leakage ,should I use silicone or any other materials?Many thanks if anyone can help.

Thank you for your question about sealing the connection from your downpipes to your water tank and welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you join us.

I'm not 100% sure what the best way to address this issue would be from the photos you've shown.

Is it possible to get a wider photo of the connection from your downpipes to the rainwater tank? It's hard to tell what they've used for this connection.

You may have some success using an external silicone such as this Parfix 300g Clear Roof Gutter Silicone if you can find the exact location of the leak, but it's difficult to say.

Once you've uploaded some additional images, I'd be happy to offer further assistance.

Thank you for the follow up photo.

With stormwater fed tanks, generally there is just a PVC pipe sitting over an opening with a sieve such as this Rain Harvesting 400mm Tank Screen. 

The use of any silicone in this kind of set up is strange to me. 

I'd suggest removing the silicone, grabbing a garden hose and spraying it onto the roof that feeds the water tank and then assessing where the leak is coming from. I suspect that the silicone may be doing more harm than good.

The only other suggestion I have that could be a cause for the leak is that the tank is overflowing. Does your rainwater tank have an overflow pipe? 

If not, having one installed might be the solution.
