How to identify lost part for Ozito 18V pole pruner?

Hi everyone!

I have an Ozito 18V pole pruner.Great little unit! Unfortunately I seem to have lost a little part in the garden somewhere, and I am wondering if anyone who has the same unit can take a picture of it for me so I at least know what to look for. It's a part that sits under the chain cover over the sprocket (star shaped thing) that the chain attaches to. Without this part the chain slips out, so I would say it's probably called a sprocket cover, or something like that. Here are some pictures:

Thank you in advance!!

Re: Ozito 18V pole pruner lost part

Hi @denisl,

Are you sure a part is missing? Typically, a chain is held onto the cog through tension, not from a part that goes over the chain's sprocket. When you put the side cover on and tension the chain by doing up the knob, is the chain tight? If the chain is loose, the tightening mechanism might be faulty, allowing the chain to pop off.

I think the best solution would be to take the unit into your closest store, and our Power Gardening Expert can take a look at it for you and compare it to a floor model. You'll also be able to place an order for a spare part at the Special Orders counter if needed.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Re: Ozito 18V pole pruner lost part

Hi @MitchellMc ,

Thanks very much for your reply.

I am not sure the part is missing, I just assumed because of the diagram in the manual.. You raise a very good point. I'll have another poke at it tomorrow and if I have no luck fixing it, I'll take it into my local Bunnings.

Thanks for your help!!

Hi @denisl,

What was it in the diagram that made you think something was missing?

Re: Ozito 18V pole pruner lost part

Hi @MitchellMc ,

The appearance of what the chain is attached to (as seen from side, after taking off cover) is circular, with a locking pin as highlighted in orange:

Untitled.png

What I have (from pic above) is a star shaped sprocket, as viewed from the side. I have a groove where a locking pin goes, but no locking pin in place:

Maybe I'm just missing the locking pin, not sure, but I would bet there's a circular part too.

Cheers,

Denis

Re: Ozito 18V pole pruner lost part

Sorry @denisl. Yes, I see that now. I thought you were referring to something attached to the side cover. That is a large washer and circlip and is definitely missing. If you see our Special Order team in-store they'll be able to put an order in with Ozito.

Re: Ozito 18V pole pruner lost part

Thanks @MitchellMc ,

Special orders sorted me out. 18$ later, the pruner is functioning again!

Cheers,

Denis

Re: Ozito 18V pole pruner lost part

Hi @denisl, would you have the part number by chance? I ordered the circlip today via Special Orders and the response from Ozito was that they don’t stock that part! Thanks
