How to kill weeds between pavers?

How can I kill nutgrass and other stubborn grass weeds with bulbs that are growing between pavers? I've tried Yates rapid weedkiller but it just killed the leaves- there's still new growth and when I tried to pull them out they just break off at the stem. The gaps between the pavers are too narrow to pull them out. I did manage to lift a few pavers and dig out some bulbs but there are tons of them and I don't want to lift and loosen all my pavers. Is there any other way to do it?

Welcome to the Bunnings Workshop community, it is fantastic to have you with us.

I'd suggest using this Amgrow Sedgehammer Lawn Herbicide, which is a systemic herbicide, meaning it is absorbed through the foliage and moves down into the root, bulb, or tuber, killing the weed from the inside out. This is crucial for bulbous or rhizome-based weeds like nutgrass, which regenerate if only the top is removed.

As it is designed specifically for Nutgrass and other sedges, I would expect you to have better results.

Thanks Jacob, that's really helpful! Do I need to wear a special mask when applying the weed killer (and if so, what sort) and is it likely that it will stain my pavers?

Hello @SunnyZim87

It's always best to wear personal protection such as disposable latex gloves, goggles and a P2 rated mask such as the Bear Disposable Paint Mask With Active Carbon Filter And Valve - 2 Pack. Appropriate clothing (pants and long sleeves) and (closed toe) footwear is also recommended. This would be basic protection when spraying chemicals in your garden.

In regards to staining, I suggest testing a small section out of the way to make sure that it does not harm your pavers. If after testing that small section and nothing appears, it should be safe to apply to rest of the pavers.
